Vintage Handwoven Kurdish Kilim Pillow Cover with Geometric Pattern

Tamarind Living

Design: This pair of vintage flat weave Kurdish kilim pillow covers in wool provides a stunning one of a kind statement piece with its symmetrical geometric woven pattern in black, cranberry, and ivory against a deep berry colour. With the reverse side in black cotton, the pillow cover is finished with a knife edge construction, double stitched seams, and an invisible zipper located on the back for a tailored finish.

Textile Origin: This stunning flat weave kilim is a perfect example of folk art from the nomadic Kurdish tribes of the South Eastern Anatolian city of Hakkari near the Iraq, Turkey border. The beautiful geometric patterned kilim rugs hand crafted by women on their home looms are nomads’ main expression of their cultural heritage and a reflection of their natural surroundings. As such, the arched geometric symbol references the sacred rams that live amongst this nomadic shepherd community providing life’s essentials.
