Vintage Japanese Hand Dyed Silk Double Ikat Pillow Cover in Indigo and White with Bird Motif

Tamarind Living

Design: A vintage hand-dyed ikat silk pillow cover in traditional indigo and white takes its pattern inspiration from the Japanese tatami. Reverse in deep coral silk. Knife edge finish, double stitched seams, and invisible bottom zipper are added for durability and tailored finish.

Textile Origin: The pattern making process of Kasuri includes both single and double ikat process. The double ikat process in which both the stationary yarn and woven threads are both resist dyed to create a singular pattern when woven together. This technically complex process can only be found in Japan, India and Indonesia. Japanese Kasuri woven patterns range from geometric shapes to figures of nature; including, botanicals, dragons and birds as shown in this listing. A classic characteristic of Kasuri patterns are their slightly blurred edges creating a beautiful illusion of movement.
